Kongsberg reported that Virtek has enabled KDA to meet cost and quality challenges.
The Challenge
Working with multi curved surfaces using manual measurement methods and tool engravement to specify placement of composite sheets has been a time consuming and labor intensive process.
The Solution
The Virtek System (VPS1 laser projector utilizing IRIS 3D software) allows for highly efficient part layup and complex geometries layup with fewer errors. The cost reduction effects are 30% high and quality improvements as high as 25%.
